Types of Blogs

For whatever reasons, bloggers have created diverse content and as such, different types of blogs have emerged. Based on the text, they can be categorized as the following:

Personal
This type of blog is usually an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual. It is the traditional and the most common type of blog. This is extremely popular among teenagers as they often use blogs to vent frustrations or sharing with others the major events in their daily lives. It is also a common practice for them to pen down what they do every day on their blogs.

Collaborative
Collaborative blogging is a special form of maintaining a blog. As it is oftentimes more viable to allow different users to write to maximize the amount of content, collaborative blogging allows bloggers to reduce time spent updating the site per person. In so doing, it increases the amount of content on the blog.

Corporate
This type is for business purposes and often used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing, branding or public relations purposes. are called corporate blogs.

Topical
Some bloggers choose not to document their personal lives, but rather discuss a certain activity. Their blogs exist with a single topic which they are dedicated to called topical blogs. Examples of particular subjects are political blogs, travel blogs, music blogs, web design, fashion and many more.

Spam
Another one is the spam blog or splog. It is mostly set up automatically by ‘bots’ or computers performing a series of automated functions autonomously, and are intended to promote commercial companies or products. These blogs contain nonsensical or repetitive text with a purpose of mass-linking or the creation of a great number of unnecessary links to affect search engine listings.
